  1. Buying and Sharing Accounts = Buying and Sharing Troubles

    Buying Used Accounts

"...what's to prevent the original owner from stealing the account back...?"

You can buy a used game account from someone online but what's to prevent the original owner from stealing the account back by calling the support department? They've got the account serial code, and the log files show the account was created using their IP address, so they can make a pretty good case to the customer support team that their account was hacked.

In fact, customer support will more than likely give the account back to the original owner unless there is strong evidence to support otherwise.

This is a scam that is repeated across all MMOs, and we want to make sure you don't fall victim to it. Don't buy used game accounts, period.

    Account Sharing

"We have seen siblings, children, and best friends all steal from someone they know."

We know sharing is going to happen, and we realize this might be a tough sell to the hardcore players, and guilds that constantly raid. No one appreciates being one character short of an epic raid, so it's easy to call a friend and ask for his account information.

That being said, account hackers play these games too. You would be amazed how often we can prove that the "friend" who borrowed an account was the same person who ripped off that account. We have seen siblings, children, and best friends all steal from someone they know.

Some do it because of a real life argument, and others do it because they think they can turn a quick buck by selling items. It can only end in a bad way.

Let your friends get their own account, and avoid the hassle.
